KILLARNEY PUBLIC PARK

Thank you – based on what I have seen, we are certainly able to lay criminal charges, in terms of alcohol, drugs, public disturbance etc, so a police presence would be welcomed. These people need to understand that a public park is just that – a park where the public can go to enjoy without feeling scared, or having to deal with drunk, abusive behaviour. I have two young daughters, and I have to close my curtains and windows over the weekend, simply to avoid them being frightened by what is going on in a public park outside my home. Never mind the potential criminal activity that could arise, it is simply not acceptable behaviour in a public park, which has clear notices about what is permissible.

Many thanks.

Good Afternoon

I will get my reaction team to do regular drive by’s on the weekends to monitor the situation and verbally try to scare the culprits away. We can not arrest the culprits as we have no authority to do such arrests. But hopefully they will get irritated by us and move out of the park.

I am busy with Norwood SAPS to try and get some assistance from them, I am waiting for a phone call from the appropriate person to explain our concern to him.

Kind Regards

Hi

We had another bad weekend in the park, with shouting, swearing, threats, alcohol abuse etc?

Please urgently advise how you are addressing this?

Thank you for this.

The other very significant problem is over weekends, especially from about 3 pm until we lock it at 6pm. There is drinking, fighting, loud noise, sale of alchohol from cars parked outside the park. This Sunday there was a man lying so drunk that my little girl asked me to call an ambulance as she thought he was dead. This is directly outside her bedroom. The noise gets so loud that I cannot get ANY peace over a weekend. There is screaming and disorderly behaviour that is certainly NOT allowed in teh park. City Parks have despatched a vehicle there which parked in the park on Sunday, and it was quiet until the vehicle left at about 3:30.

If your guards could please make a presence felt in the afternoons over weekends, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

The Task Force visited the park on 3 occasions. They will also visit it
tonight at different times. They questioned people around park and the
Guard who informed them that the only real problem they experience is
vehicle theft of vehicles parked in unprotected areas. They now have
enough information to strategically plan an operation.

The moment we are successful we will inform you.
